My neighbor is having a mental health crisis and I'm struggling to find help for him. He has schizophrenia and recently became homeless. I tried speaking with his family but they have disowned him. He believes he owns my property so he comes and goes as he pleases. I have tenants, so a complete stranger sitting on their patio doesn't work. I also live in a rural area with neighbors who shoot anything that moves. I've called the cops and several other resources in my county but nobody has much to offer. The cops said they've arrested him for trespassing a million times and that's all they can do. They said he'd be released and come right back. Adult protective services told me they can't do anything either because he's not elderly or a dependant. They said he'd have to come into a hospital voluntarily, but there's no way he'd go and he doesn't have insurance. Does anyone have experience with a similar situation or any advice on how to get him help? I'm in California.
