I was hit on in a supermarket and It made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

The other week I was in the supermarket with my mum (Keeping in mind I am 17, Over the age of consent but still a minor) and we were about to go into the self scan area and we saw this guy (who looked mid 30s) stood by the entrance to the self scan area. My mum asked if he was queuing and he said no and to go a head. We both walked past him and I smiled to be polite.

We went to our till and began to scan our items. And the guy went to the till behind us and turned around and asked me If I knitted my jumper myself and I said no and that I just bought it. He turned back around and I did the same, doing an eye movement to my mum to let her know I’m uncomfortable, as social interaction is very difficult for me.

The guy came up to us and put his hand out to shake it and I really didn’t want to be rude, so I shook it and he kind of just held my hand slightly until I was able to pull away. He then started striking up conversation about my makeup, because I wear bold light blue eyeliner and he was getting closer and closer to me and it was just making me very uncomfortable. He then asked if he could leave my number and my mum piped up and said very politely “No, I don’t think so”. He chuckled and said to us to have a nice day.

My mum noticed that he might have had a learning disability from the way he spoke, walked and the way he didn’t understand the situation better.

I just felt incredibly uncomfortable throughout the whole ordeal and just wanted to cry.
