Working in child care

So without going into much detail about what happened I’m just in need of advice. I(21M) work in childcare, some after school daycare thing in a smaller school district I’ve been at for 5 years now. So I’ve been working with, for the most part, the same kids for up to five years. This job is mostly just playing with kids in the gym or leading different programs for any student K-12 that just needs a place after school for some reason.

My job really hasn’t been too serious. I just deal with problems as they come. Kids fight, parents get mad, so on and so forth. But recently one of the kids that I’ve been working with for the entire time I’ve been working at this place came to me about something serious. I won’t go into details, but they basically told me that I was really one of the only people in the school that they trusted to tell what happened to them.

I did all the right things, told my boss and informed the proper people. But like, what do I do now? I never really thought that I would need to do something like that, or like be someone a child could come to about things like that.

I guess that’s where I need advice. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do next. Like, I want to be able to at least try and help them. They’re a depressed teen going though hell. I just don’t know what I’m supposed to say or do in a way that’ll actually be helpful for this kid while also staying in like, some healthy boundaries I am supposed to stay in.
