Has anyone else seem to find better support in a friend than a therapist?

Has anyone found better support in a friend than they have a therapist? Aside the fact that ‘Friend’ is used to loosely. I mean someone that you know for certain is a true friend. Therapy seems too hands off, you only meet 1 hour a wk (at the least), they don’t know everyone well enough, and they don’t know the entire situation. Granted there are therapists that may allow contact more than this, but a friend is 24/7, they can be more in tune with your emotions, have your back, catch you when you fall, bedside in case of emergencies, just the whole 9 yards. Friends have a way of just ironing out life. And even when the road is still rough it’s nothing like having someone to weather the storm with.

I’ve noticed often times therapists are too afraid to speak on certain things or will completely avoid them and more often than not those are the things that need to be addressed the most. The number one things therapist say ‘They can’t tell you what to do/They can’t give you ADVICE.’ Friends are great in the sense because THEY CAN and will sometimes save you from a bad decision even after careful thought.

Even with my greatest therapist sometimes I felt empty. You charge all this money and you don’t know the answer to my question and often times I’m not even seeing you for a full hour? How dare you! Just my little rant. Therapy is not natural however it can be useful or offer useful info sometimes.
