So I’m a correctional officer at an undisclosed location. It is genuinely heartbreaking seeing people mess their selves up day in and day out. And it’s even more heartbreaking when they are innocent or when you think they are. But you have to treat everyone the same. No matter what. I’ve seen it all. Muderers, rapists, thieves, etc. But it’s the lack of humanity that comes with the job. Sit there in court and watch an unfair sentence from an unfair judge. It just makes you lose faith in the system you grew up in. I was so excited to work law enforcement. But it just makes you see the dark side in everything, too.
