I’m not sure where to start. I’m a mom to two kids, 13f, 18nb, and I’m in a blended family with my partner and his three kids. We went to a waterpark yesterday and my oldest went on a ride with my youngest. This is when my oldest claims they saw cuts on my 13yr olds upper thighs and they didn’t say anything to them. But they texted me last night to let me know so I can get her help.
The situation is difficult because my 13yr old also deals with situational mutism. So when I do try to talk to her she doesn’t really talk much. I have her starting therapy and we have her first appointment coming up this week.
I don’t know how to approach this, if I should try to talk to her about the cutting today? Or should I let the therapist know and see what they say? I would like to have a conversation with her about it but I’m scared I’ll say the wrong thing or that she won’t respond when I do try to talk to her.
Any advice is appreciated.
