I work in San Francisco, the civic center to be more precise. It’s not a bad part of town, but it’s right on the border of the Tenderloin, where a lot of the homeless congregate, so naturally there’s spillover.
I usually get into the office in the late morning to not be stuck in traffic, but the past two days I’ve been coming in around 7:30am.
And both yesterday AND today, I’ve walked past some sort of coroner either loading in or about to load in a dead body covered with a yellow plastic sheet into a van.
Considering that I didn’t know either person, witness their deaths, or see their actual bodies or faces (again covered with yellow plastic), I don’t know if it’s normal to be kind of upset and generally feeling low..
I’m considering calling out sick for tomorrow, but am worried this isn’t a legitimate reason to call out..
Is this a normal reaction or am I overreacting?
