What is your song?

Which songs can you listen to and it makes you feel worse either immediately or afterwards?
For me, it’s a song by Ren called Violet’s Tale.
Even though I know it affects me, it’s a brilliant song and Ren is a fantastic artist.
I can’t help myself.
What’s yours?

  1. I have a whole playlist of Elliott Smith that i listen to when i’m at my absolute lowest. No Name #4, Roman candle, the last hour, etc. he’s my favourite artist but i will spiral into a depression if i listen to his songs, but the fact that his music has the ability to do that is very respectable imo, he’s a genius.

  2. Ren is great!
But Blue October and their song Black Orchid. It’s the last song on their first album. And it starts out “have you ever been so lonely…”
And as somebody who’s never had friends (not real proper friends) this hit me hard. And still does. Their whole discography is great for seeing how the singer, went from a dark dark place to the new albums which are happy as hell and all about over coming stuff.

  3. Promise Me – Badflower

This song talks a lot about grief, which is something I’ve experienced multiple times in my life, and struggle dealing with still. I have PCBD, and this song can be extremely triggering, but at the same time it’s also a very lovely song and it means a lot to me too.

I usually listen to it when I think of my loved ones who have passed, as it helps me process the emotions since I usually block them out so much.

  4. Pretty much all of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. I consider it the most beautiful music ever, but listening to it always leaves me feeling extremely melancholic, like listening to it expands my soul and afterwards just leaves me with this void that is almost painful.

  5. The Kids Aren’t Alright by The Offspring

    and, Fireflies by Owl City.

They both invoke the same feelings in me as you described here, I couldn’t just pick one.
